The Commission received complaints during public hearings
During the week of Human Rights that started on November 26 and ended on December 10, 2022, the National Commission for Human Rights in collaboration with the OHCHR, UN WOMEN, Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, MINALOC, together, carried out, an awareness-raising activity aiming to promote women's rights and end gender-based violence.
In collaboration with its partners, the Commission joined 5 districts community namely Nyagatare, Kayonza, Musanze, Rubavu and Huye for public hearing. The events were marked by sensitizing local people on human rights focusing on fighting Gender Based Violence and other forms of abuses that lead to human rights violation and receiving their human rights related complaints during public hearings (Inteko z’abaturage).
The local population were also sensitized on the Universal Declaration of Human rights, the mandate of the National Commission for Human Rights and ways to denounce Human rights violation cases.
That outreach was a great occasion for the National Commission for Human Rights’ partners including Civil Society Organizations, International/Local Non-Governmental Organizations, and Government institutions to raise people awareness on their activities.
