The Commission monitored Senators’ election process countrywide

From 15-17 September 2024, Commissioners and staff monitored Senate elections preparedness countrywide, ensuring fairness, accountability, transparency and protection of voters’ rights. The Commission monitored the Senate elections to ensure human rights are respected during elections. In fact, the Commission monitored Senators that are elected by local councils and representatives from universities and higher learning institutions, both governmental and private.
The Commission observed campaign activities in different districts with purpose to assess the fairness of campaigning, ensuring that all candidates have equal access to resources and platforms. Monitoring of Senate elections also covered the voting process, where Commissioners and staff were present at polling stations to ensure that the voting process is conducted fairly and transparently. They also observed the counting process and the announcement of results.
The Commission noted that the electoral process was transparent and fair; and that monitoring elections is essential to uphold democratic and human rights principles.
