The Commission organized a retreat to examine Universal Periodic Review recommendations issued to Rwanda

The Commission organized a 3-day retreat to examine Universal Periodic Review (UPR) 3rd cycle recommendations that brought together leadership and staff of the Commission, Ministry of Justice and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the field of the promotion and protection of human rights. The participation of CSOs allowed to combine efforts both in the implementation of UPR recommendations and in the process of their assessment.

The participants identified recommendations that require action by the Commission and its civil society partners and the common actions in the implementation of the recommendations. That led to put in place a common strategy for monitoring the implementation of the recommendations.

The workshop enabled participants to further understand the meaning and scope of the content of the recommendations given and accepted by Rwanda during the 3rd UPR cycle review. The participants analysed couples of UPR recommendations and proceeded by plenary presentations of work done in different groups.

The participants also identified joint activities within the framework of the implementation of the recommendations and came up with a common strategy for evaluating the implementation of the recommendations based on national roadmap.
